Atmospheric Composition

The ALIAS instrument will provide measurements of total water, carbon monoxide, HDO/H2O, and N2O for the MACPEX mission. This suite of measurements will help investigate cirrus microphysics as it pertains to ice water content - total mass, particle effective radius, extinction, and density. These measurements will also help discern the transport of cirrus via isotopic water signatures, help identify recent convection through CO, and stratospheric-tropospheric folding via CO and N2O. This work is proposed to be conducted as Fundamental Research.
