This three-year proposal addresses the instrument and analysis investigations in the Mid-latitude Airborne Cirrus Properties Experiment (MACPEX) (A.16) of ROSES 2009. The focus is on cirrus cloud properties and their impact on climate change. We propose to measure in situ pressure, temperature, horizontal & vertical winds and turbulence with the Meteorological Measurement System (MMS) on the WB-57F aircraft. The first year, fiscal year 2010, is planned for instrument preparation, integration, field testing/calibration and field measurement. The second year is scheduled for post mission calibration, data processing, data quality control and final data distribution. The data analysis is planned for year 2 through year 3.
