Dr. Moran has extensive experience in microwave remote sensing, data fusion, data assimilation, soil moisture accounting, and agricultural applications which are directly related to the SMAP mission objectives. Her knowledge of both the science of soil moisture remote sensing and those applications which rely on accurate soil moisture measurements will be of value in directing the focus and maximizing the impact of the SMAP mission. Specifically she would like to apply existing and developing hydrologic modeling and data fusion techniques with available ancillary data to facilitate the use of proposed level three and four SMAP products in application settings as well as to demonstrate possibilities for improvement on these products for specific applications under various uncertainty scenarios.
