The objectives of this proposal include: 1) contribution to an ICESat-II cal/val plan based on ICESat-I on-orbit experience, 2) provide guidance on ground system methodologies in the context of geolocation requirements and goals, and 3) help define GLA parameters and products based on experience with ICESat-I, and develop alternate enhanced waveform processing techniques, as appropriate. An underlying objective is to ensure that ICESat-II data products can be properly interpreted within the context of the ICESat-II science objectives, without instrumental artifacts or residual artifacts from selected processing methodologies. In addition, a related underlying objective is that ICESat-I and ICESat-II data products are compatible to enable surface detection from the time series generated by ICESat-I and ICESat-II.
